I Can't Find Her Face

I didn't want to come here.
They say I have to go
To school with other children –
There’s no-one that I know.
I don’t know these children -
Can’t follow what they say.
They seem to think they know me
But then they go away.

I don’t know these people -
There’s always someone new.
They talk at me and whisper -
I haven’t got a clue….
I don’t know who to talk to,
There’s no-one here I know.
They all know each other -
I think it’s time to go.

I think I know the teacher –
She’s at the front…and tall…
But if she’s in the playground
I don’t know her at all.
My mum comes to collect me,
She waits in the same place,
But when there’s lots of people
I can’t find her face.
